About us

Our history and our team

County Tree Surgeons is a family-run business that has been looking after your trees since 1987. Our founder, tree surgeon Brian Farrow, then had 15 years’ experience and set up the company with wife Judy controlling the admin and finance. Not long after starting the company, Brian was joined by his son Paul (around the time of the Great Storm of ’87) and in the mid-1990s by his other son, Lee.

To this day, County Tree Surgeons remains a family firm, with all four family members holding Directorship positions. And we’re still all speaking to each other! Despite the strong family bond, we wouldn’t be where we are without our extensive team and their hard work and dedication. From that starting point of two, County Tree Surgeons now has a team of more than xx, made up of consulting arborists, contract managers, plant operators, arborists, tree surgeons, countryside operatives, administrators and other support personnel.

CTS about us

How we work

Professionalism, honesty and transparency run through Country Tree Surgeons. From the first point of contact to the end of the work, we will keep you up to date with how work is progressing.

1. Get in touch with us

Whether you’re a local authority or council, school, housing association, developer or homeowner, we’d love to hear from you. Our friendly team is ready to take your call or answer your enquiry.

2. Site visit

Our team will arrange to come out so we can give you a free, no obligation estimate for any works required. This will be at a time that suits you and causes minimum disruption. Our tree surgeons or arborists will assess the job, and the environment, so we have the full picture of the work that needs doing. If we know from the outset all the factors involved, we’ll be able to give you the best price estimate for the work.

3. Your quotation

We’ll send you a comprehensive quotation document, outlining all works that need to be undertaken and clearly showing the price breakdown for each element. This will also include how long we expect the works to take place so you can factor this into your plans. You’ll know the price you see is the price you’ll pay. We’ll never suggest any work that isn’t necessary.

4. Permission and compliance

We can also advise on any necessary permissions or environmental compliance that needs to be considered, and guide you on any course of action you may need to take with regards to planning or consent.

5. The work

Once we’ve scheduled in a date to undertake the tree works, our team will arrive on site at the agreed time, with everything needed to complete the work in the time frame allotted. Safety is paramount on every job for other land users, pedestrians, site operatives, traffic and our teams. All tree work is carried out in accordance with British Standard 3998: Recommendations for Tree Work and our own high industry standards.

We will remove all tree waste from your site, recycling and repurposing wherever possible.

6. After completion of the work

Once all the work’s done, we’ll send you an itemised invoice with all costs matching your initial quote. Payment terms and ways to pay will be clearly shown but if you have any problems at all, our team are always at the end of the phone to help.

Throughout every project, big or small, customer care is super important to us. If you have any questions, if you need to change anything about the work or if you have any queries once the work has been done, we’re here to help. Just drop us an email or pick up the phone.

Call us on 01342 719567 or contact us to find out more about any aspect of tree surgery, maintenance, felling or pruning. Our expert team is on hand to help!
